Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are usually 8 guests per weekend but maximum 10 depending on the venue.  People come from all over Ireland having usually applied via the website.  Some people are referred by a friend who has been on a weekend or sometimes via a GP or support group.  We have supported people for lots of different reasons including stress/burnout, grief, anxiety, post cancer treatment or people who are just overwhelmed by the demands of life.

  • Gerri’s Place is a confidential space and guests are asked to respect each other's privacy and also to keep everything that is discussed on a weekend confidential.

  • We encourage you to try everything as you just never know what will work for you, especially if it is new to you.  However we want you to be comfortable at all times, so if a session is not working for you just step out. Our trained facilitator will be there to chat should you need to. You can rejoin a workshop at any time.

We chat to everyone once they complete the application form. A conversation with one of our team will help you to know if it's the right fit for you.

  • A sound bath is a type of therapy, which has been around for thousands of years as a way of healing. It is said that this particular therapy aids in stress reduction, breaking up emotional blockages within each person that practices this technique. The sound bath cuts through mental chatter and quickly creates a meditative state and deep relaxation. Many studies show that sound baths help relieve high blood pressure, stress, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and chronic pain.

  • Everyone has their own room.  We feel it is important to have a private space to take a breath, relax or even have a snooze between sessions.  People have commented that it has encouraged them to take part in all sessions as they know they can retreat to their room if they need some time out.

  • We encourage the group to stay on site for the duration of the well-being break although you are free to do so during your free time on Saturday afternoon. Most people find that the house is so welcoming and as the weekend is short they want to make the most of the down time.

  • We cannot provide transport at this time but can support you with all the transport information you need.

  • We encourage you to leave your phone in your room during workshops and at mealtimes so that you really get to relax. We appreciate that everyone needs to keep in touch with loved ones. If you need to make an important phone call, please do so out of sight and out of earshot of other guests. Although there is a Wi-Fi connection, we encourage a digital device free well-being break.
